There is so much to do here in Nanaimo and this property is simply amazing. They won best Hostel of the year across Canada, and I can see why they did. This place is funky….and so CLEAN!

What can I say, this place is excellent. Lovely modern rooms, courteous friendly staff and excellent kitchen facilities. Nothing else to say, just highly recommended!!!

Everything about the Painted Turtle Guesthouse is “special” - it’s better than home from home.
So much so that you don’t feel like you want to leave. It’s spotlessly clean, has excellent facilities and a great atmosphere. Angie and Bruce are fantastic hosts and make you feel so welcome it’s like you’re part of their family.
It’s by far one of the best hostels I stayed in on my tour of Canada - highly recommended.

Jude Law look a like at reception REALLY helpful. Went above and beyond the call of reception duties. Very cool, well thought out common room, great for chilling out and meeting other travellers. Would come back anytime in Nanaimo. Thanks so much from Australia!

Excellent! Fabulous! The nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed at in my world travels so far. More like a boutique hotel. Probably won’t suit for the more party-time youthful crowd; but if you value location, cleanliness, helpful staff, this is the place. I loved it!

Stay at painted turtle hostel was really nice. The room was big and clean with lots of sun shine. The private locking bath was a surprise becuase I do not see that luxury in any other hostel I have stayed in. I would say it was at least 8 out of 10 in my grade book.

What a COOL PLACE to kick back, get some rest and meet some truly down to earth people. Cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in by a long shot. For less than $25 bucks each, me and my travel mates shared a private room that looked like it was from a trendy hotel. Loved it at the Turtle!
