What's new at the Guesthouse?

Power to Women Entrepreneurs!

Our own Angie Barnard, co-owner of the Painted Turtle Guesthouse, recently received the honour of being featured in the book: “New Pioneers, Stories of 100 BC Women Entrepreneurs”. This book is published by the Women’s Enterprise Centre, and serves to acknowledge and celebrate women entrepreneurs throughout British Columbia. Angie’s story is an example of a successful business initiative in Nanaimo, and her story may act as a catalyst for other women entrepreneurs. For more information about the Women’s Enterprise Centre, or to order a copy of the book click here.

Conference Centre Success

The recent opening of the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo has spelled out great business for the Painted Turtle Guesthouse. Our close proximity to the conference centre (less than 2 minute walk!) translates into an easily accessible and desirable location for hosting conference delegates. Feedback from delegates thus far has been very positive! Delegates commented on the cleanliness of our property, our free wireless Internet, and the spaciousness and fun atmosphere in our Common Room. Members of the BC Leadership Conference enjoyed their stay with us most recently, and we will soon be hosting delegates attending the Vancouver Island University Leadership Conference.

Trick-or-Treat, Turtle-Style

Hosting in-house events to create ambiance and an opportunity for guests to feel at home is part of what makes the Painted Turtle Guesthouse so unique. For instance, good food, good friends, and some very unique pumpkin carvings describe Halloween this year at the Painted Turtle Guesthouse. This fun event brought us together, warm and cozy in the guesthouse, and definitely upheld the community-spirit of the Painted Turtle. Visit our BLOG for the full story and some ghostly photographs.
